I believe there is a satan... Interesting focus for a short presentation. Doesn't it need some extrapolation, on why that needs to be emphasized? Most of your audience agrees with the statement at the outset. Most of the atheists would assume that all Christians believe this as well. There's a segment of church audience that needs conversion to belief in Satan, so this would be intriquing for them. Keep up the fight.

Hi David Campbell,

I agree with you that this video does need some extrapolation and explanation about its emphasis. However, that being said, the point of the video is to engage people, to get them to ask questions. As people delve deeper into the Roberta Winter Institute’s website and blog they will find a wealth of information on this topic.

As you watch the video you will realize that what Ralph Winter is trying to address is not so much the fact that there is a Satan. It is the question that Ralph begins the video with when he is referring to the cock fight, “God must love to see cock fights? In all of nature we see the homicide, the aggression, the killing, and the killing, and the killing, God must love this kind of stuff. This is God, right?”

Many Christians say when they look at nature they see the Glory of God. Remember, the word glory refers to the “essence” of one’s being. And, I must say, when I look at the incomprehensible detail in the natural universe I want to immediately bow down in worship of the creator. However, when we examine things in the natural universe a little bit more closely, we see something else. We see incredible violence and aggression. We see a bloody tooth and a jagged claw. We see this violence and aggression even at the microbiological levels. What is even more terrifying is that this violence, this aggression seems to be part of the design!

The questions begin to pour forth, as they did for Ralph Winter, as he watched his beloved Roberta being attacked by an aggressive, violent, microbiological disease. Did our loving Heavenly Father create the design this way? Was the creation booby trapped by God? When you consider that most Christians believe that nothing happens on this planet outside of God’s will, you begin to start seeing the depth of this philosophical, theological problem.

Ralph Winter formed the Roberta Winter Institute to shout out a resounding “NO!” Our loving Heavenly Father did not create the Earth and its natural order in the form it currently exists. A terrible distortion has happened! An enemy of God’s and men has distorted the creation down to even the microbiological levels. This is not something God is in control of and it is not something He wills. This has happened against His will. The destruction, suffering, chaos, violence and disease we see at all levels of creation did not come from our loving Heavenly Father! There are other intelligent, powerful but malevolent beings, whose wills are operating in the Earth, against the will of God!

This is why in 1 John 3:8 it says, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” Something had gone wrong with God’s beautiful creation and Jesus came to set it straight. This is also why, as Jesus teaches his disciples to pray, he tells them to pray this way: Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” If God’s will was already being done on Earth, Jesus would not need to tell us to pray for it to come.

Jesus then handed over to us, his followers, the same power and authority he had, in order for us to finish the job Jesus started. In one sense, in Jesus death and resurrection it was finished. Jesus dealt the fatal blow to the enemy! But, in another sense, Jesus gave his followers the “Great Commission.” Then he sent us out to take the message of the good news of the Gospel of the Kingdom to every people group, tribe, tongue and nation.

Ralph Winter believed that this Gospel message was not just a traditional twentieth century evangelical message of salvation. Ralph believed that the Good news of the Gospel of the Kingdom was to bring redemption and restoration to every people group and culture. Ralph Winter believed and so does the Roberta Winter Institute, that it is the duty of every follower of Jesus to engage in this war; and to be co-laborers, co-partners, co-warriors with our great Captain, Jesus Christ, in destroying every work of the devil!
